After injuring my right knee playing netball, I underwent an ACL reconstruction in August 2016. The date resonates with me being the same day Nic Naitanui had his knee recon! It was a challenging few weeks post-surgery being so limited in my mobility & daily functional tasks but the inability to participate in my regular exercise regime was so frustrating. Prior to surgery I was running, playing netball & attending gym group classes, so being restricted following surgery I found it challenging to accept. I found inner strength to ensure I persevered with my knee exercises prescribed by the Physiotherapist to maximise my range of motion. As soon as the Orthopaedic Surgeon had given clearance to drive, I was at the gym completing my knee exercises. It wasn’t until I returned to the gym, that I became more motivated & determined than ever to be stronger & give myself the best opportunity for a good outcome following my knee recon.

My passion for fitness & desire to be a better version of myself stemmed from my diligence in completing daily rehab at the gym. Upon being recommended Lauren by a friend, I met with Lauren in March (2017) & began fortnightly training sessions & by April had adjusted to weekly training sessions. I couldn’t ask for a better way to kick-start my Saturday morning & although Winter was approaching, the mornings were dark & occasionally wet & miserable it didn’t deter me, as Lauren truly was my sunshine! Greeted each Saturday morning by her genuine, warm nature she has assisted in changing my understanding & empowered me to challenge myself & strive toward my goals & has been able to adapt my program to accommodate whilst strengthen my knee. Her manner in training differs from what I’ve observed at the gym in my many years of attendance & I believe this is one of the many aspects that sets Lauren apart from other trainers.

She is meticulous & listens to your goals & endeavours to work with you to achieve them. Lauren updates my gym programs once short-term goals are achieved which is reflected by the completion of a bio-signatures. With my wedding at the end of the year another motivating factor, Lauren introduced a nutrition plan. As the wedding draws near Lauren has scheduled additional bio-signatures to ensure we’re on target & adjusts my nutrition plan accordingly. With my most recent biosignature at 11.9% body fat this is such an achievement & we’re not done yet!

Lauren is willing to support & provide guidance required to help achieve your goals. You’re an inspiration Lauren & you’ve changed my perspective on training! I never anticipated I’d be yearning for strength & weight training & am stronger but leaner than I’ve ever been before. Whilst my ACL reconstruction was a set-back, it is challenged & motivated me to have a more positive attitude & strive to be a better version of myself. !
